Cartorik - A Gamified Experience of German-French HistoryCartorik is our answer to a simple yet powerful question: how can we help young people explore Franco‑German relations in a way that feels alive and intuitive? Developed in collaboration with the DFJW and under the scientific guidance of leading historians, Cartorik transforms the past into an interactive, gamified map. It guides users through carefully curated places, layering multimedia storytelling with quizzes, chats, and challenges—creating an experience that isn’t just informative, but immersive and engaging.

Rethinking how learning could work
In close collaboration with the “Deutsch-Französisches Jugendwerk” (DFJW) we created an interactive experience highlighting the major historic points of interest of the Franco-German relationship.
Based on the meticulous work of historians, users discover more than 60 places and 2 centuries of relationship between the two countries. The stories are told in bite size chapters and enriched by interactive gamification elements like quizzes, chats and fill-in-the-blanks. Cartorik was demoed for Presidents Macron and Steinmeier during the official state visit to Germany in 2024. We heard they liked it a lot ;).

"Finding the future of education: we developed a modular and flexible system of micro gamifications throughout the experience. This lets Editors precisely control and shape the story of each location, from sobering and serious to beautiful and fun."
